Ex has gone to Convention with my kids
by cyberdyne systems 101 ini dont know why, but this has left me feeling angry.. it could be that normally i go and pick them up to take them to school on this morning.
i think its more than likely that i know they are staying there in a hotel and that part of things will be made fun for my children - not that i have a problem with that, its because its coupled with the knowledge that they will be associating it with going to a jw convention, and all that will be is an indoctrination session and self praise for the society.. whilst i think the children will see things from both sides, from me no longer being a jw and living a typical non jw life, and then with their mother (who is a good woman) who is a devoted dub, i think the control techniques and cult thinking and propagander are designed to place mental barriers to which someone like me should be unable to penetrate.
whether in practice that turns out to be so, we'll have to let to time show.. its just so frustrating to think someone can be so blinded, and suck up everything thats spouted out from the leaders, and try their very best to bring their children up with that too.

About my new friends
by cyberdyne systems 101 inlife after being a jw is so hard at times - i know many of you can relate to that.
i thought i'd share my experience with you all.
i've met two of the best mates i could ever have dreamt of, although they are quite a lot younger than me they have older heads upon young shoulders, and at the time we've met we're at similar places to each other.

Seeking forgiveness from those who shun you
by cyberdyne systems 101 inwhat i'm wondering is if you have hurt people by your actions and they happen to be jw's and your now disfellowshipped, and therefore they shun you, is there really anyway to say your sorry (other than submit to the congregation elders, and eventually (maybe) be reinstated).. this is kinda the situation i'm in.
i have done things that have hurt people, one's i see in connection with my family.
i want to be and say i'm sorry and regret things i have done, and yet it was never leaving the witnesses that i'm sorry for, rather my own actions that got me df.

Did paintball at the weekend
by cyberdyne systems 101 init was for a birthday treat for one of my friends, me and his best friend arranged it and wow was it a laugh!
i got some good bruises going on, but thats all part of the fun.. i'd always wanted to do it, and apart from doing something called laser quest, which is just light guns, i'd always considered it to much of a no no, when a dub.
i recommend it to anyone, there was men, women, children of say 13 or 14 too, the paint balls are a bit pricy but if its a one off, and the memories you take away are great.. cs 101.

Humour? Financial security and looks?
by cyberdyne systems 101 inthese are what might be considered classic things that a person might be attracted to, in order to contemplate a romantic relationship with someone, i was particularly thinking of women being attracted to men that is.
possibily a combination of these three, is that your experience here?
what other things do you look for other than these and how much would you compromise over what you would like and what you would or have got?

Had to do a delivery at a JW assembly today!
by cyberdyne systems 101 inthere it was on the delivery manifest: kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses, assembly hall etc.. at first i was like oh no i'll bet i know the people, and it'll be awkward, i did see a few i knew of coming out - they have both a kingdom hall and assembly hall on the same grounds - anyway this kind young well dressed dude came over to the van and directed me to where it was to go, the next thing i must have misunderstood him cause another even more friendly young chap came over to see where it was i should go, anyway another person who lives there came out of his appartment and took me to where i was supposed to go, and commented that ,my van had a no smoking sign, he mentioned that by law they had to put them up, even though they are jw's and dont smoke, for those not from the uk, there is a smoking ban in public places about to come into force.
i was left with a nice impression of the people there and started wondering if it was that bad?
apart from being mislead over doctrine, didnt it look like they had a nice life style?

Met/spoken to two former Jw's I knew this week
by cyberdyne systems 101 inwhat a strange week, first someone who posts here turns out to be someone i knew from many years ago, and we end up speaking on the phone to catch up and share our experiences, and then last night i'm in the supermarket when someone says hello to me and when i turn to look its another person who used to attend my old congregation.
his reason's for not going was the lack of love shown to him and the fact that questions he was asking were going unanswered - sound familier?

Felt the affect of a WTS policy
by cyberdyne systems 101 ini took my two children home today, and was about to step in when my ex says, 'i've got people here'.
it turned out to be her sister (also a jw).
normally i'm ok to go in, but not this time, if i ever go in and she happens to be there she doesnt say a word to me.

Development of the 'meetings'
by cyberdyne systems 101 ini was wondering if anyone knew how what became the 'meetings' came into being.
say from the time russell printed the watchtower, to congregations forming and a particular format being followed.. i guess this question arose in my mind because to become a member of a religion/organisation you have to comply to a set of rules or guidelines that make you more unique to that particular religion.
the jw's have specific meetings, and this is one area i was curious to see the development of.

Life after the dubs
by cyberdyne systems 101 inover the weekend my journey to recover and find a life outside the wts continued rather well.
although my saturday started with me feeling a bit lonely and down, i saw the guy over the road from me was outside, whom i have recently befriended.
i walked over and saw him working on his car, as a mechanic myself i talked with him about what he was doing and he explained he'd had an accident which had damaged the suspension and was trying to sort it, in the end myself and another guy he and i know worked on it till dark.
